As a few of you know shes going into foal shortly. I thought id keep you guys updated as things progress. Partly because im bored at work and having nothing better to do!!

We took her down to the AI centre last night (5mins down the road in the lorry from our yard!). Poor Bloss was all excited going in the lorry as she hasnt been out for ages, when we unloaded her 5mins down the road i dont think she was that impressed - and she was even less impressed when we put her in the 'stocks' and the vet shoved his arm up her

(sorry to be crude here!)

So anyways was all very interesting and we looked at the pictures of her 'insides' on the computer screen which showed she'd just ovulated in the last couple of days and was shortly to be coming out of season.

So shes booked into the vets for 20th April, when she will have her injection to be brought into season. Then on monday 23rd April she'l go back down the vets for the to 'have a look' inside to see when is going to be right for her to be AI'd. She'l probably stay overnight on the monday and the tuesday of that week, as we think it will be the tuesday she will be 'done'.

Today i phoned the place that i need to order my chosen stallions semen through (we are using frozen because it is coming from abroad, my vet is confident this is fine). Anyways company i order through said its going to be 4 WEEKS until any frozen comes in and they cant garentee that the stallion i want will have frozen sent

So i got in contact with the stud where he is standing and they are sending me out the frozen which will arrive next tuesday/wednesday at my AI centre. All i do is fax them Bloss's passport and they do everything for me, which is fab!!

So im really pleased and also VERY excited

Oh, the stallion im using is Johnson

LMAO, maybe another mini han in a couple of years time??
grin.gif

hes like Archie in that hes short backed, long legged and got a lovely uphill canter and a fab trot and a lovely hing leg. Blos is a bit long in the body and short in the leg, so i spent a lot of time looking for the perfect stallion to help compensate on her weaker points. I also couldnt go for anything chunky as she is quite chunky herself.

LMAO poor mare thought she was going to a party and instead got "examined"

YAY exicting sutff PG

What a lovely looking stallion,if I won the lottery I'd breed more[bred the coloured in my siggie, sire akkord]but I'd never sell any. My friend has some youngstock in Holland by Jazz, can't wait till they come to England

Thats fab, make sure you keep us all up to date every step of the way, I am hoping to breed from my mare next year and need to do lots of homework so I will be following your progress with interest!!!!

thats the plan! by the time its young enough to start breaking in Archie will be well established and il either sell it on if it hasnt got the potential, or keep it. Il probably breed another from Bloss at some stage too providing this goes to plan.

because its coming from abroad my vet (one of the top AI vets in the country) has said its better for me to get frozen incase it gets delayed at the airport.

Hes told me that the conception rate from frozen is fantastic these days and ive spoken to the stud and the stallion im using so far has a 98% conception rate from frozen.

Oh yay!! So pleased she got the all clear yesterday. And I love your chosen Daddy - he is stunning!!

I shall be wanting regular updates and of course the title "Aunty Gin" when baby Bloss arrives

hes still quite young (rising 6) so hasnt had many seasons at stud yet, which is i guess another reason why he has a high conception rate for frozen. The stud did assure me his 'freeze well'

Thank you for the link, it was very interesting to read.
