My coloured has managed to cut himself out in the field a couple of days back- I suspect Monty has kicked him out of excitement. The cut is only superficial but bled a fair bit so I bandaged it for the first night and hacked him out on it yesturday and he was fine on it- no lameness. Today it his leg is up- I didnt bandage it last night as I was letting it air, not hot, just filled with fluid, and only in the injured leg. Mum dosnt come home for another hour so I was just calling up to you people to see what your verdict is on it?

Has he been in or out today? If been in and is not lame then walk him for 10 mins or so, should walk any excess fluid off as circulation improves with movement - dont walk if lame.

Hopefully just odema from the trauma - as long as he walks it off I wouldn't worry about it. If gets hot ro goes lame then get vet. Naughty horses - we should have goldfish instead!!

Sound like fluid accumulation from standing.

BTW is best to keep wounds covered and moist (with wound gel) rather than letting dry out.
