Been using magnetic therapy for years with great success.
Magnetic boots helped heal my veteran ponies sprained tendons along with Bowen Therapy, which shouldnt be used at the same but the Bowen Therapy was additional treatment, when the injury happend he was 28 and the vet said he'd never be ridden again, at 31 he is being lightly hacked out twice a week. Bioflow tendon boots highly recommended, email me if you need details of where to buy, I can put you in touch with my friend who sells bioflow and can give you some good advice. Good luck.
P.S. I also use a aerborn magnetic back pad which helped recovery, I also put it on my cold backed mare half an hour before I hack her out.
I used the magnetic boots by Premier Equine for my mare who had a tear in her DDFT. I think they aided in her recovery and they are very nice boots too.
i have used magnetic therapy boots in my old ponies, one had a very banana like tendon from an old injury, but she never went lame, i used to put them on overnight in the box, can't remember the make of the boots though...
Though there are many people who swear by the use of magnets to help healing ( I'm not going to mention the word "therapy" ) I am not convinced and if you look for any proper medical research, I doubt if anyone would be. The only positive stuff comes from folk wanting to sell you gadgets and the ones mentioned above are very expensive.
I'd like anyone who's bought magnetic boots or wristbands for humans to tell me just what they expect a tiny magnet inside them to do? Scientists have, after all been working with magnets the size of buildings and haven't noticed any effects for or against their healing powers.
Discuss, I can already feel the riot gathering to beat me!
I don't know the scientific side, or even how I expect them to help, I just know that they helped me when I badly broke my wrist 6years ago, and I was sceptical when I first tried them but it got to the point where I was desperate- I constantly needed painkillers to be able to use the damn thing in the end.
I tried magnetic bracelets out of curiosity, and they dramatically reduced the pain and meant I could cut my painkillers in half, and eventually out all together.
3 years after breaking it they eventually admitted there was an infection in the bone were it was originally set, which they then dug out and did weird things with my tendon to correct the damaged ligament I also had.
Now, if my wrist is aching/ sore (especially in cold weather) I routinely wear a magnetic bracelet to help with the pain, and this saves me taking crap loads of paramol!!
So you can tell me it's a load of crap, and there's no proof, but I know it worked for me, so where's the harm in hoping they'll work a little for my horse?
