Putting my bay tobiano/sabino (skewbald) mare to a grey stallion next year and I want pictures of your blue and whites! That's what grey tobiano horses are called over here in Ireland, not sure if its the same in the UK...

Also, if a grey coloured horse eventually begins to look grey, can it still enter coloured classes?

Thanks guys :)

MEEEEEEEE!!!!!! But you already seen her!! lol :D xxx exctiting...which stallion did u choose in the end? xx

Haha I emailed you earlier today! But while you're here... how is Heff still hanging on to her grey chest? What age is she now? I chose Chester's half brother!! We'll still be related, yay!! Still have to visit him, but I know I'll be like you and fall in love straight away!

As a 5 year old

Now rising 7 and defo lighter - !!!
Will be pure white I think by a ten year old, yes can always show as coloured as his skin dictates that he is piebald as does passport.

Blue and whites do lose their colour (and are therefore sometimes cheaper to purchase as they are considered less "desirable" if someone specifically wants a coloured). They can still do coloured classes when they fade - called historical coloured. I recall a very faintly coloured pony won HOYS several years ago but that is the exception rather than the rule!

WOOP WOOP on the stallion :D xxx

I have two of them, IMO they are the best of both as I love greys which is what I went shopping for both times. I have a 15 year old cob who has been all white probably since he was about 8/9 I have shown him locally in coloured classes and he normaly gets judged fairly only once that I remember he was put very wrongly last and when I asked why was told because he wasn't coloured- I told her what he was but she was having non of it. Was annoying as he went fantastically and was put behind very novice combinations who went very badly- was stabled at the venue so luckily hadn't wasted too much £. My cob still looks coloured when clipped or wet but doesnt have very good markings anyway. My youngster who is nicely and evenly marked is lovely and dark for now and will def get him out to some coloured classes while they are still 'there'. I love them! I will try and get on the comp and show you some pics.

As your mare is heterozygous for tobiano you are just as likely to get a solid foal and if the stallion is heterozygous for grey you only have a 50:50 chance of a grey foal.

They can still be entered as it will say their colouring on their passport.

Below is Cooper,(RIP), he was 10 in that pic, and totally white. You could only see the blue pigment in his skin when you clipped him out.

Rest in Peace, my love. xxx

The foal will get either tobiano or sabino, and I suppose could look like a solid if the sabino is very minimal. But probably coloured. And the sire is heterozygous for grey, its a total lottery!
