Blue Chip Champ - OMG I am poor!

Had the schedule arrive today for blue chip, lucky enough to have qualified super horse for two classes.

However, I then worked out my total bill and it comes to £290!!!!! To jump two of the classes we have qualified for, a warm up class and one other - also 3 nights stabling and hook up!!

How on earth do people afford more than one horse?????

I know it is a choice whether to go or not and whether to pay etc, but am I the only one who thinks it is a bit expensive? Or am I just out of touch??

Bread and water it is for me and hubby for the next few weeks ;)
 
I found that's one of the cheapest shows! Definately cheaper than scope or trailblazers & better run too (well than scope anyway :) ) xx
 
Ouch - how much is the stabling? Convenient to stable on site but could you find somewhere nearby like a farm that does horsey B & B. We quite often do that and end up paying £10 - £15 a night for stabling and lorry parking instead of £40 for a night. Also means a good night's sleep as quieter than a show ground but obviously not as convenient.
 
I thought it wasn't bad value, I haven't picked up this years schedule, but last year the hook up seemed very expensive, we did without it. It's such a nice show though and the permanent stables are so lovely!
 
Ok, looks as though I am out of touch with pricing these days then!

Have never been to Blue Chip before, and the total cost when I worked it out was just a bit of a shock to the system! When I look at the costs individually they are not too bad £30 entry per class and £27 per night for the stable - but the total just took me by surprise :0
 
If you get your entries in early you don't get the crappy temporary stables, you get the fancy big indoor ones (which are worth the £27 :D ) xx
 
oh my word, that's organised, I only got my schedule yesterday and haven't opened it yet! What classes have you qualified for/doing?
 
I shocked myself with being that organised! Problem is, if I dont do things straight away that I end up forgetting and panicing at the last minute.

Qualified for the Novice and the Discovery (horses not ponies) :) A friend of mine has qualified for some of the bigger stuff, so hoping to watch her aswell whilst I am there and act as groom when I am not jumping.

I always head to shows on my own so any HHOers going would be nice to meet up :)
 
You will love it :) its our favorite big show. The daughter qualified 2 ponies but is unfortunately too old now so can't go :( Can't wait to find a horse & try for next year!!
 
Im going to :D iv qualified for the Power, i was only going to go down the tues eve, jump the warm up class in the main ring, then the power and go home wed night, but i LOVE the show sooooo much, ive been the last two years and had a fab time, we finished 8th in the Discovery final last year which always helps make a show good :D ive decided to be brave and jump the 1.15m classes the thurs and fri, they are pretty strong but it will be good experience for Lily - you will love the show and the facilities are great :)
 
It is expensive, but it's a fabulous show and worth it. It's not dissimilar to scope cost wise (200 ish for three classes and stabling, 80 for hook up) but its miles apart in terms of value and enjoyment.

Best of luck- no blue chips or scope for me this year because I'm pregnant- I'm still jumping but not very competitively! Trying to convince hubby I can pop baby out in September and jump aintree in November !!

I'm so excited just done my entry this morning :) I'm jumping the Star and Karma final on the Thursday plus the 1.20 indoors on Wednesday and 1.15 on Friday!
 
Its worth it! Such a nice show, and completely different atmosphere to a normal stay away!

The stables are pricey in relation to your average stay away but even the temps are much better quality.

I went for 2 nights last year and it was £50 when you can go to weston lawns for a whole week for £40 but it's a fab show.

Took us 6 hours to get there but loved it!
 
Glad to hear there are other lovely HHO people heading there, be good to put some faces to names!

Not feeling too bad about the cost of it all now, especially as I am hearing about what a lovely show it is :)

It's our first baby, and my sister treats pregnancy as a disability so has brain washed hubby that we won't even be leaving the house for a month after baby arrives....... Poor bloke is scared witless that this is it and life will now be us as a mummy and daddy not as two people with personalities Lol

And there was I thinking I was being quite reasonable, it'll be a good 6/7 weeks, and I did say is pay for a hotel, so we wouldn't be camping...... :p
 
Llanali - you will be fine!!! Not that ive ever had a baby but my horsey friends that have are straight back on once its popped out ;) although my sister is just like yours and according th her its definately an illness ;)

Ooooo im so excited about Blue Chip to - it really is my favourite show of the whole year - i have qualified for Scope loads of times but only went once and really didnt enjoy it :( ive qualified again this year but will only go if i qualify Discovery Final - cant put my finger on why i didnt enjoy it but just felt it wasnt a patch on Blue Chip :D
 
Sorted then! Ill try and con someone into jumping second rounds, and then ill be doing aintree :))

I know exactly why I'm never going to scope again Escada! Child abuse, drunken children, drunken adults, vomit on the pathways, two foot of mud in your stable, and jumping at 4am in the pissing rain... LOL
