Has anyone tried the blue chip original native balancer? I hear its new & am interested in thoughts/opinions/experiences?
Thank you

Hi

My pony has been on it for 6 weeks now. He did have a palatability issue with it at first but then I realised it was because he prefers wet food to dry and if I wet it he eats it no problem. I do not mix it with anything other food.

It does seem to be good his energy levels are higher and the farrier noticed his hooves are growing quickly, his coat is really shiny. I also like it because it has a breathing supplement in it and garlic which is meant to keep the flies away.

Only time will tell how he does on it over the next few months now the grass is coming through as if he does start to get fat I might have to swop him over to the lami-lite.

This is the first time he has been on a balancer so I can't compare it to other balancers but it does seem to have got everything covered in it, though the website is not very clear exactly how much of each thing it has in the balancers which is a bit annoying and I did try emailing blue chip to try and find out what the DE is of the balancer and they did not get back to me. I might ask them again so I can compare with the lami lite.

Thank you.

That's really helpful. I too couldn't see ingredients listed & wanted to know about molasses level etc. for weight reasons! X

Hi, I'm resurrecting this as I've been in contact with Blue Chip over the last few days.

I was querying the DE levels in Original and Lami Light and what they basically said was the DE levels aren't that different over all their balancers (10.5 in LL & 11.5 in Original ) but the probiotics were different as it is these that cause the condition/weight gain. Original & Pro have elevated levels to encourage this weight gain but LL & Native only have enough to maintain a healthy gut.

I then queried whether my fatties would do better on Native or LL and Sarah replied to say they would be fine on either but if they haven't previously had laminitis Native would be ideal.

I didn't get the DE of Native as it was an afterthought but I would conclude from the replies I got that it's not much different to the LL.
