Hi
I have been recommended to feed blue chip to Oscar (2YO) by an experianced friend. I just wanted your opinions on it please

Is it any good?
Is it worth the money?
How long does it last?

Any experiances?

Thanks :)

I used to use it on my old ID x TB who was a poor doer and an elderly TB. It worked wonders and kept their weight up. It also chilled Bri out, which was great. I think it has biotin in too, so willl do hooves the world of good too :D
Hope that is of some use to you xx

I absolutely ADORE it! My big lad is on it as he is such a poor doer, and you can tell if he's not had it within two days - his coat goes dull, he visibly drops weight, and generally just starts to go downhill. It is very definitely worth the money.

My boy is 17.2hh, and 24yrs so he has quite a lot (more than the recommended amount but my vet is happy with the way I have found to keep him looking good, and he really does look fantastic!). He gets half a big round Stubbs scoop morning and night in his feed, and although a bag only lasts him about three or four weeks, feeding it has cut my monthly feed bill for him down from £450 to £170!

Hope this helps, give it a try, it really does work wonders!

Oscar has been really poorly last few months bess him he had lami in may and his immune system is weak he keeps getting everything (has had horrible cough for 11 weeks now :( ) Vets said he just needs time but friend said i should try this as it has "immune boosters" in a round about way!!!

Blue Chip is brilliant for poor doers and fussy eaters. If you've got time to shop around for the same ingrediants do, otherwise go for Blue Chip, it lasts ages. :)

Fantastic stuff! Lasted Red about a month when he was on quite a bit, so £10 a week? He went through a £10 bag of Baileys in a week= same cost. He is on a washing powder scoop full a day now and it has lasted him ages, about two/three months  Love it and can't recommend it highly enough, definately worth the money, took my horse from this:

We use it with build up mix and ad-lib hay for our poor doer TB. Without it he can't eat fast enough to keep weight on. He gets just over half the recommended amount - and the farrier was surprised at how well his feet had grown over last winter.

Starzaan-what do you feed him along side blue chip? sorry being nosey :D

Ok... I have gone through EVERY feed on the market! I have established that for all horses that aren't Roy I like:

Red Mills Cool N Cooked Mix
Mollichaff Showshine
Blue Chip
Kwik beet

For the fatty mare

Blue Chip Lami Light and horslyx to make sure she gets vits and mins etc.

But for mister Roy who won't eat mix, won't eat Alfalfa, won't eat dry food, won't eat food that's too wet, gets bored after about three days of most feeds, is an INCREDIBLY poor doer but also very very silly so can't have barley etc....

Diamond Condition and Show Cubes ------ 1 scoop
Mollichaff Showshine ------ 1 scoop
Blue Chip Original ------ 1/2 scoop
Kwik Beet ------ 1/2 scoop
Corn Oil ------ 1/4 pint
No Bute ------- 1 measure

Morning and evening... this amount would kill most horses, but it works wonders for him!

hi there,

I am another HUGE supporter of Blue Chip.

I have my young warmblood on Original, and my elderly chap on the lami light version which is prob more suitable for your horse having had laminitus.

I cant rate the stuff highly enough and will never stop feeding it.

another advocate here. turned my stressy adrenaline fuelled wreck into a sane controllable horse.
wouldnt feed anything else now. we feed exactly what it says on the bag, 350g a day for his height and weight. any more would be a waste as it is a balancer not a feedstuff.
fed with alfa-a and build up mix

I used to use blue chip which was great but have now switched to top spec. I have found its equally as good but in our neck of the woods its much much cheaper then blue chip. At the moment mine are all on top spec lite & nothing else. The switch has made quite a differnce to my wallet.

Although he had the lami he has never been fat and was according to the vet "very slightly underweight" at the time of his attack. So is the lami one different or just lite?

:)
