blue chip... worth the expense??

as above really!! as a student £40 a bag is quite an expense!! but my tb has really bad feet and the farrier has recomended it...

Personally I think there are better things out there for the money. Have a look at Saracen Equijewel - at £30 a bag it is less than Bluechip, and IMO makes a huge difference.

The other thing to look at is D&H Suregrow - that is very similar in composition to Bluechip and about £12 a bag.

I got a 17.2 rspca case about 3 years ago, 2 bags of blue chip later (and adlib hay) he was a different horse. I think it a great feed for all round condition. But ... Im not sure id feed it just for feet.. You tb will end up quite over weight id have thought. Why not use farrers formular, or keratex (sp) instead??

I used it on my old horse as he always lacked a bit of weight and was really fussy. It was brilliant and he looked really well on it, but as above not sure if I would pay out just for feet! I had a TB with bad feet and found biotin and keratex really helped. I would look into specific foot related products if he doen't need the condition

i think it depends on the horse, i have feed it 2 some with no noticeable difference at all and others it makes a great improvement, i think there are better things on the market for feet though give keratex a try???

he has been on farriers formula, naf pro feet, biotin etc etc with no results... the farrier said that blue chip would show an improvement in 4-6 weeks... the condition would be good to, i would like him to put on some weight!!

A bag of Blue Chip lasts my mare about 6months as I only give her half a mug a day.

She had the farrier yesterday and he kept commenting on how good her feet are. Also her coat is so shiny.

Don't know about Blue Chip, but I use Equilibra and IMO it is fab. Well worth the money for general condition.

Formula 4 Feet is rather good stuff if it's the feet you are hoping to target. Probably be a darn sight cheaper too!

Bllue Chip sent my TB mental as the starch is stupidly high. She works much better with Topspec and her feet had better results with this to and its a lot cheaper than Blue Chip.

IMO, no. You have to feed a supplement/feed for at least 9 months to detect any real difference in hoof quality as it takes at least this long to grow a complete hoof.

There are cheaper ways to provide the nutrients needed for healthy feet.

i found this the only thing that owrked on my horses feet BUT you do need to use 2 buckets to notice the difference but when you do you will be amazed.
