Blue eyes- conformation fault?

as title really can two blue eyes knock a horse down in the showing placings even if their conformation is spot on?
 
Depends on the breed, but if there's nothing in the breed standard, then it 'shouldn't' if conformation/ride/everything else us faultless....

But that's not to say what happens of course. Personal preference! Majority hate them and have stigma about sight issues etc.
 
Typically, white faces and blue eyes can denote deafness, particularly in dogs. The white face is the splash gene. I confess I checked my horse's hearing before I bought him as he has one blue eye and a white face. It's very common to see this combination in cobs.

It shouldn't get a horse marked down in the ring unless the judge has an issue wit it.

It used to be called wall eye when unscrupulous sellers would tie a horse and make it stand with the blue eye against the wall so it wasn't seen. :eek:
 
I still call them wall eyes, what do you mean 'used to' lol. Not at all clued up on showing, but I know a lot of people who dislike them & view them as a weakness, i'm sure they'll be some judges that may think the same.
 
Depends on the breed standard I guess. I was told that white eyes are wall eyes and blue ones are china eyes. I think they're ok on horses with darker faces, but on white they can look a bit creepy! Horses with very pale coats and wall eyes always look a bit like goats to me!

Very much a marmite thing, along with arabs, warmbloods, cobs etc. :)

I like blue eyes, but not in dark faces!
 
One of our horses has two wall eyes. He is one of the handsomest horses I've ever met! But they're inside black which I do agree makes them much nicer.

My boy's beautiful blue eye. Its like a marble, so pretty :)
 
My daughter's piebald mare has 2 blue eyes and she has always been a prolific winner at county level and BSPA National Championships. The judges love her - her eyes have certainly never held her back

They were always called wall eyes and were not considered correct in showing, mind you this was when coloureds were not as popular as they are now and were looked down on generally in horsey circles. Thankfully that has changed so I presume the correctness in showing has also

Yes things have definately changed. My daughter's pony was the Absolute Horse and Pony Magazine Pony Champion and has won various working hunter and working cob classes coloured and open.
 
No way, it's definetly an old fashioned thing, as someone said when coloureds were less popular.

My boy has 1 full blue eye and 1 half blue, half brown :) he's precious.
 
I love them, but do prefer two being the same colour.

This is my beautiful Wonka. I could look at him for hours. From one side you would have the black, white of his blaze and blue of his eye, and from the other you would have the black and blue.

This is one of my favourite photos of him.

It is coming up for 3 years since he was taken away. RIP little man.
