Blue Hors Don Schufro

Someone I know has just had a foal by Romanov which is why I was having a look on the site... did Kay say why to stay clear? There is just something about him that really caught my eye much more than the others did. I think Romanov looks nice, but a bit 'false' looking

That sounds silly doesn't it, but I know sort of what I mean

ive got their DVD - non of them are a patch on some stallions out there, they look good in the pictures online, but aren't anything outstanding on the DVD. Just my view IMO tho......

I have heard many rumours about Don Schufro and I understand he is not everyones cup of tea. In my opinion he suits a very particular type of mare but no one can deny his achievements both in competition and breeding (It is very difficult for a stallion to balance and be successful in both) . Having met him the stallion has also got a temperament to die for he is so lovely in the stable. Romanov I disagree is not faulse but can get a little tense in his work and this is something Andreas works on consistently.

It is very difficult to judge on DVDs as you are taking 2-10 mins of footage out of the stallions year and putting on dvd. I would say if a stallion has something on a small amount of footage go for a little trip and see them as often they are even nicer in real life

I have produced both a Don Schufro and A Sunny Boy and have riden a fair few of both bloodlines in Germany.
For me theSunny Boy would be my first choice, lovely temp and often very good front ends, especially pretty heads. Walks can be a bit weak so need to go on mares with a good hind action . Do not like the charactures of the Don Schufros, move well but not stong at stamping 'type' in terms of physique, other than being chestnut!!! Not seeing that many coming up in the Eite auctions and that is often a good pointer as to stock and quality.

I really like Don Schufro but think he only suits a certain type of mare. This year I also have a Sunny Boy colt and a Romanov filly and both are stunning. The colt has taken everything from the stallion which is fantastic. The Romanov filly was out of a Jazz mare and she is already showing some fantastic movement and she is already very big whereas the colt is slightly smaller.
I also like Hotline but decided I prefered the movement of Hofrat so had a colt by him this year and have put the mare back in foal to him again for next year.
