Arnt the blue merles a bit yampy! My vet told me that anything with a merle coat would have a lively temperament, due to certain genes!

Dante, blue merle just refers to the colouring not the type of collie so yes it probably is blue merle border collie like mine

arr gorgeous!

Beautiful dogs. Because merle is a recessive gene, isn't deafness a greater risk?

My friend has a seven-month-old blue merle Rough Collie. Must get a picture of him to post.

Only if you breed it with another merle then you risk having 'lethal whites' which includes deafness. I may not be 100% correct so dont take it as gospel

Its the nicest I can find at the mo. Shes my ISDS reg bitches (Alice) grand-daughter. Her mum is black and white and her dad red merle. Shes incredibly quick and clever, def not deaf and a very sunny person to deal with.I adore her. M.

We had a blue merle rescue collie and his temperament was not good. He came to us at 9 months old after being rehomed twice and spending some time in rescue kennels

Was my now ex husbands dog. He had loads of problems but not sure how many of those were down to his bad start. He was the only dog who I could not trust with my young children. We had not had him long when ex decided to leave, but didn't take dog. Sadly I had to rehome him (to an older couple with no young children in the family) as I just could not cope with him at that time. When I was competing in agility there were quite a few blue merles and they were excellent workers. Like all collies I think theyneed tohave something to occupy their brains.

I had a blue merle smooth collie yrs ago had her as a puppy untill she needed to be pts she was about 12 yrs. Was there when she came into the world and when she left..She had a great temperament. My mother-inlaw breeds and shows smooth collies.
