Right, I have a rising 3 year old who is KWPN type and is very sharp. I am wanting to break him in to ride soon but he can loss condition if he gets stressed ( which happens a lot) so he has been on baileys outshine supplement but I think it is blowing his brain, so now I am putting him on bluechip original. He feed contains, build up, hifi, sugar beet and bluechip. I don't want to start on the whole calmers thing. Just want to know people's views on bluechip??? :D

Give mine a little handful of bluechip in his feed he's Czech wb and rising 3 got on him few days ago good as gold and a couple times since then.no problems he's really laid back so if something got him wound up id know pretty soon i avoid alpha a sent him bit loopy lol

I love blue chip PRO and if could afford for all of mine to be on it they would.

Never sent any one loopy and really adds so much to the condition like nothing else I have tried.

Cant recommend it enough

I would check the ingredients of your feeds very carefully for sugar/mollasses content. Sugar can be rocket fuel for a lot of horses.

If you are feeding sugar beet I would swap it for an un-mollassed beet like speedibeet. I feed mine speedibeet and winnergy balancer which is a complete feed but non-heating and no mollasses. The Winnergy nutritionist was very helpful when I rang for feed advice.

Fibre, fibre, fibre!

Thank you for all your advice, yes he was on Alfa A but now he is on hi-fi. I think I am so worried about him losing weight when I start to properly back him, I was probably putting the wrong food in him for his little brain to cope with. Plus he is quite sharp so it doesn't take much!!!! Will also think about trying speedibeet. I have also cut out the D&H build up mix, to baileys everyday high fibre nuts. It also doesn't help that he is not keen on staying out much past 11am, so he comes in, but he does go on the horse walker in the afternoon so he is not stuck in his box all day!!:)

If he loses condition when stressed I would consider feeding probiotics daily. I recommend Protexin. Incidentally I found it seemed to also have a calming effect on our very hyper pony as well as aiding his digestion.

Another fan of fibre . . . my Polish sporthorse has a very WB brain and is clever and sharp - molasses sends him completely round the twist. He gets Alfa A Molasses Free, Speedibeet and BC Original - for a while he was on mixes and supplements/calmers but he is so much better on his current feeding regime.
