Went to do N26 and our first Elementary (E44)

Started off only 1/2 hr late...not bad for me! Finni had a fit in the lorry and came out with a cut back leg, a chunk missing from his face and a skinned hip. Ouchh.

Decided warm up was a bad place to go, so took him for a stroll down the drive and went straight in.

Did a gorgeous test, really pleased. Bit dissappointed with 60.74%, but marks were low across the class. Came 4th.

Elementary, 2 hours later. Managed to sufer total brain freeze during the test, which involved me stopping and swearing blind to the judge i'd missed out a movement!! Judge in turn attempted to reassure, me several times , that i hadn't

Eventually my brain unfroze (with a little help from Twiglet reading for me

)

Well........after much chanting that anything over 60% was bad.

We got 60% on the dot & 6th.

Novice Open, here we come.

JoC did really well - beat us in both classes - but i'll let her tell

Well apart from being a muppet that sounds a good day out to me! You'll just have to stick to Elermentary I reckon.... I can just imagine the judge telling friends/OH this evening about you

Well done!

Thanks

Sure she thought I'd lost my marbles

Could not remeber doing the 1/2 10m circles AT ALL. Considering i'd just done them...this was quite special, i think

Early senility, perhaps?

Well I am 3/4 of the way down a bottle of celebratory wine so excuse this post!

Did a very good test for Nov26 and was somewhat disappointed with 63.7% but pleased with 2nd place. Waited around for a long 2hours for the Elementary and was very very pleased to get 64% and 2nd place

HOWEVER this now makes me an open novice rider for which I hold Finn McCoul entirely responsible!! Joking aside congratulations Tori - excellent day all round!

Definitely need to do it again soon and it was good to meet Twiglet too!
Ok Ok I'll take the blame for this one (I blame the wine entirely!)

Well done on first elementary. If it was a "busy" test, can quite understand you having a momentary "lapse". Hope Finn is OK after his accident travelling!!

FIona

Sounds like you both had a good day, if not a little eventful!!! 60% is not bad at all!!!! I'm pleased if I get over 50% as thats half way!!!!

And Fin, dont worry, I did a test which I knew off by heart for weeks prior to the championships and on the day I remember going up the centre line, tracking right and getting back round to A and have a senile moment as I'd completely forgotten where I was going!!! I thought the Medium trot came next so powered up the long side to have the bell rung and the judge telling me that I was meant to do a half circle at E etc etc.... once she had pointed that out, I remembered everything and finished the test! So senility comes to us all!!!!

Thanks Guys. My memory freezes are becoming quite frequent. There's just too much useless info in my head!

60% was bad as it gave me a point at elementary....means i can't ride in Novice Restricted Section anymore - have to ride in the open section, with the big boys

p.s. Finni hates travelling on anything but motorways. he kicks constantly, today he lost his balance and upset himself more than usual.

The road to Bluegate is rather twisty, turny.

Well done to both of you, sounds like a pretty respectable day to me.

The plus side of being in the Open Novice is that there are usually far fewer riders in that section so more chance of a rossie.
smile.gif

Of course the downside is that you need a higher % to go through to the regionals and when you get there it's full of the big boys with multiple rides for owners/sponsors.
The AF qualifying % is still the same so there's always that option.

Well done, thats great for your first elementary - its a b*gger about being in the Novice Open now tho! Thats why when i was competing Bloss at medium i only ever rode her HC as i didnt want to go into elementary open!

Thank you
grin.gif
- think I'll be sticking to the AF can't see me ever getting the % to get to the Regionals. FMC and I have made a deal to go to the AF's at Wix (haven't we Tori?!
tongue.gif
) as we have both qualified at Novice level. However I have a question - both of us qualified as restricted riders, does this latest result mean we have to enter the open section in novice at AF or do we stay in the restricted section as that's where we were then if that makes sense?
