Wormed the ginger one with pramox today and the little beast seemed to swallow then promptly spat it out all over my hair and OH's rugby top (shhhh).

I cant measure how much he actually swallowed so what should I do re giving him some more/getting a different kind etc?

Off to secretly wash that rugby top now...

Personally, I would give mosr or even all of the dose again. It takes a huge amount to over dose to cause any harm to your horse. Worm wise, it is better to over dose than under dose (under dosing can cause resistence)

Try keeping the head up until you see him swallow:D

I'm prepared to be corrected on what I'm going to say if I'm incorrect!!... But as I believe you've now missed your window for worming against encysted redworm (usually oct/nov and again in feb?) so you'll just be worming for tape worm I assume?? If this is the case equimax do the new tablets, you can also get placeboes to try first to ensure your horse eats them before giving the proper dose. Just a thought if pastes are a problem?

But as donkeymad says, the wormers are usually tested at 5 x the recommended dose for safety so you should be fine to give the same dose again.

my mare wont take paste, so i get a corkscrew and screw out the centre core of the carrot, and squirt half the past in, then give her an ordinary carrot to take the taste away, and then a corkscrewed one again! I cant fight her, she is 16.2, and very strong so this works well with no stress!

Thank you - I didn't want to overdose as he is a veteran...

Will make sure he has definitely swallowed next time, have never had an issue in the past, so think I must have let my guard down a bit!
