Blyth Taite Demoted to BE100!!

It's mad and could decimate his buisness if its not sorted.
It will also tend to draw advanced horse to a small pool of riders making very hard for those just under that level and don't have a constant stream of advanced horses to get good rides.
I am also not sure it's safe , my advanced horse would have been a nightmare at a BE100, she could not do many 0I s without getting over bold.

This is not strictly accurate as BE100 has nothing to do with FEI qualifications. Yes, he would have to go back and do 1* but not 100. This wording may have got muddled as the levels may have different names in NZ like they do in USA.

tbh though-if he's still good he should be able to upgradde fairly quickly-and he's been out 8years, who's to say his accuracy is still that good?

But who is going to want to put miles on an advanced horse going back to one star it could be very bad for the riders who only have a few horses .

I admit I'm not that clear- if both the rider and horse are qualified separately do they have to qualify together or is it only that those who are not qualified must go back with their own horses?
I would rather some people had to make extra effort and prove their competence rather than risk safety-but think the new measures may need some tweaking or an appeal process-a lot of riders with only a few horses aren't necessarily good enough to go 3*..

This demotion means any new horse the Kiwi rider takes on, even if it has competed at four-star, must go back to BE100 (pre-novice) and regain its qualifications with him.

Bit unfair, true BE100 riders competing against a 4* combination...

He hasn't got to go back to BE100. FEI qualifications start at novice.

Seems crazy...Do you think it's just to make more money and to mean they have to do more runs to qualify?

No, the qualifications were brought in to protect riders who were going up the levels with minimum qualifications regardless of whether they were ready or not. It has probably hit Blyth harder than most as he missed so much. He is a slightly exceptional case.

How dare they !! :mad::mad:

:mad:*Kiwi in the room jumps up and down and has hissy fit*.:mad:

..and wonders off to find out what BE100 is ... :p

I know for endurance your stared (eg CEI3*) qualification only lasts for two years, then you have to drop down one level to re-qualify.
