I have a problem with my horse overreaching and pulling front shoes of when turned out. Has anyone turned out in any of these boots and if so what was your experience of it? Can they pull these off easily?? Did they rub? Any other ideas greatly appreciated, tried overreach boots, kavalkade safety ba boots, tried taping his feet with no success!!
If anyone has a second hand cheap pair of boa boots please pm me, Size 2.
 
I've been doing the same at the moment - my horse has soft tissue damage in his feet and it is essential that he does not pull his shoes off.
His hoof quality isn't bad so he does damage when he does rip shoes off, once managed to bend a brand new shoe in half.
I tried various overreach boots and tape over the shoes but he still managed to pull shoes off.

So now he wears Boa boots a size bigger to allow for the shoe. They are great, really easy to put on and take off. He's been wearing them 2 months now.
He managed to break the lacing system once and got one off but these can be replaced and better that than the shoe.
You invalidate the warranty using them with shoes and the feet do get a bit sweaty under them. Fine for my horse going out during the day but you couldn't leave them out 24/7 with them.
they are have never rubbed but they did come with gaiters in case they did.

I tried the Old Macs but they didn't suit his hoof shape as his feet are very round.

Cheapest place i found was equestrian clearance or hyperdrug for accessories.

We recently used these on our old TB to help him recover from some v bad abscesses. We did leave them on 24/7 for a week or so but obviously we were hot-tubbing, poulticing etc so they'd come off twice a day for a short while.

They did fit very well though and only rubbed a little to be honest - you just need to make sure they're on tight enough so they don't twist.

I think they'd be fine for part of the day but not 24/7 for a long period.

Have you tried those thicker, more rigid overreach boots, the synthetic type not rubber?
 
my horse has pulled so many shoes oof this summer he has damaged his foot and after 2 attempts with glue on shoes (don't bother) I have tonight put an equiboot on my boy.
I got my farrier to check the fit and he was happy that it is left on 24/07 as long as it was taken off every day and checked.
boa boots are supposed to be the better ones....but very expensive. the equiboot does fit my TB small round foot well.
 
A pony on my yard was in Boa's for about a year after a bad bout of lami (couldn't keep the glue on's on) and they were fab for her, did the job perfectly, but she was on sole turnout in a small paddock so I suppose they weren't exactly tested!
