Boa Hoof Boots

Has anyone used these? I got some for my pony as he had gone barefoot. He seems to be coping fine without his shoes (was only shod on front) but I though they would make him more comfortable on stoney ground etc.

Any feedback on them would be great x.

I've used Old Mac's and they definitely help. No problems with them slipping except in really really deep mud

Been using them during the day (turned out) on one of my ponies who has been going on and off lame having just gone barefoot. He loves them! They're very good so far, just be careful with the dial covers - we lost both within an hour!

Used mine for a week on a horse with a suspected abscess who had to be kept turned out - no problems, fitted perfectly over the shaped poultice and vetwrap, didn't slip or come off or rub. Easy to put on/take off. But like the poster above I lost the dial cover within the first day!

I use Old Mac G2's and have done for almost a year now. My mare was totally naked and got on fine with all 4 but during the summer her front hoofs were really suffering and we had to re shoe them. The back ones are still bare and she wears the Old Macs every time we hack out. She has never slipped in them, in fact they give her great traction. I am not on my second pair of back boots, the first ones lasted 10 months but she drags her feet and has worn holes in them. They are £100 ish a pair and a lot cheaper than shoes. Her feet look great too, which is of course the most important thing.

I went for the Old Mac's over the Boa's for the same reasons as above, the dials come off too easily and the wires break

I use old macs on my TB and they are great - I only use them on his fronts and are to help him on the stoney ground. my farrier tidied up his feet the other day and said they were looking really good, so I look forward to being able to ride without them - but he gets on so well with them and they are fast to put on and take off that it is really no bother at all anyway.

I use the boa boots, have done 5 hour hacks through all sorts of terain including realy deep mud, galloping up hills, down steep roads, through fords, and mud up to ponies knees. Never had a problem with them.
Ive used them for turnout as well and not lost a dial cover yet. For the boas if you break a lace (not sure how youve managed that as you shouldnt be doing them up so tight) then you send the boot to them and they replace the laces for free.
i did approx 300 miles with mine this summer (they fit 3 of my ponies and some turnout for one of them) and they show no signs of wearing out!
