Hello, I would love to hear from kennel owners out there! I have been hoping to make the move from boarding dogs in my own home (which I've been doing for about 9 years now) to running my own small-ish kennels.
Howeverm my one sticking point and I'd be grateful if you could clarify, is this: do I need to be on site 24hours/day? I had been hoping to run a kennels for only 10 - 12 dogs so employing staff wouldn't really be an option.
I've been checking various Council's rules and I'm thinking that I'm right, it's 24/7 - ie not even popping out to the shop? At the moment with home boarding I'm able to go out briefly during the day.
I would be grateful if you could advise and, if you only run a small establishment, if you find it viable? Or is the only option a much larger premesis and staff?
Thanks!
