Boasting about bad behaviour

Well I'd rather have a ride on many of the horses on this thread than the "hilarious" and "really funny" horses who rear and bolt etc.

Agreed on the post about teenage girls out riding plastered in make-up! I've even seen a girl at an old yard dismount after a hack, put her horse back in the stable and check her face in the tack room mirror before untacking. Pff!

I've been there when i was a teen. I used to find it fun to get on all the horrible naughty horses and work with them until they went nicely. I enjoyed the ride in between though and had little fear (too little!). I loved riding rearers and buckers, i can't explain why, it was just exciting. It did improve my seat no end too. I don't think i boasted a lot though, but i did have a smile on my face whilst riding.

Now i wouldn't particularly like to get on a rearer and i'm a bit more sensible, but i can see why it's nice to have a challenge and something to work on. I still like fizzy horses but don't want to be out of control. Not everyone starts with a perfect horse, and maybe the people you are judging are just on the journey to getting there but not quite reached the end yet.

However i hate to see people razzing about jumping higher and higher with rears and bucks in between and no real schooling. But if they're trying to rectify the problem and still enjoying their horse then what's the problem?

The one thing I would say is that all Captain's antics have given Elizabeth a better seat and she has learnt more about riding than all the riding school ponies and other horses she has ridden put together. Still can't see what there is to boast about in bad behaviour though, a pain in the bum is what it is especially in your forever horse , not funny!

Off topic entirely - my OH tried to send me a text message saying 'grrrr' today - and his phone spell check changed it to 'ferret'.
S :D

I don't know why but I laughed out loud at that ..... I do have a silly sense of humour at times :D

From now on everytime I say Grrrr its going to be replaced with Ferret ! :D

Now onto the OP .....

My youngster is very very VERY well behaved at shows, she has ALWAYS been remarked on that by every judge .

On the other hand, she can be quite naughty whilst being led in a headcollar(which doesn't happen any more :p) ....in all honesty any bad behaviour embarasses the hell out of me and it makes me feel like I have failed her .

Its definitely not something to be proud of !
