This morning, Sister came in to say Bob (15yr Old ShirexTB) was VERY lame, so we all rushed up anmd took him into the stable, he was pretty much hopping and not wanting to move much at all

He had pulled a shoe the day before, but was fine then, but alot of his hoof had come away, we phoned the vets and they came out...Vet had a good dig around and found some lumpy dead bits and a puncture in his hoof

She sadi to treat as an abcess, but then realised he was calmmy, and took his temp twice, and he had a VERY high temperature...:(
Vet said that the only danger at this point is if an infection gets into the sensitive tissue in his hoof, as its in the sole at the moment...If this happens then its either surgical flushing=££££...Thing is, he's worth less than £2000,

So hoping its not going to come to anything like this

So hopefully his hoof will be lots better in the morning and lots of nastiness will have come out onto the poultice

(((((vibes))))) hope he is feeling much better tomorrow.Poor chap.We have a horse on our yard who is just recovering from his abscess. He reacted in the same way as your horse as in hopping lame. However he didn't have the high temperature so fingers crossed that it is nothing too serious for your horse.

Fingers crossed he is OK--if he is a big boy the pain could have caused the high temp.
Have had a horse pull a shoe partly then stand on nails and have blood coming out of the nail holes
He was very sore and on box rest for quite some time but OK in the long term
Good luck he sounds worth fighting for
