Horse has a forward girth groove and seems to have an extra wrinkle behind her foreleg on her off side. This can get rubbed by the edge of the front of the girth. Someone suggested Bodyglide the other day which apparently is an amazing product.

Just don't know which one to get and wondered if anyone knew which would suit horse the best.

I have tried all sorts of girths with girth sleeves and are currently using a Professionals Choice SMX V Tech girth which is great but not infallible.
 
will it work on hair? I have used coat shine before.

have two with the issue and both have suited different girth types to resolve but still have to be extra careful when they are changing coat.
 
Its just in one place right behind her elbow and has clearly been a problem in the past. She came with a wintec airborn girth but the edge had got really hard. The Prof. Choice is good but I think too wide.

I seriously have more girths than pairs of socks now!!

fwiw my lad found the wintecs too wide. I did used to find it really frustrating working my way through options too!

This is what I have, which is at least cheap! Mum's mare has a contoured leather ideal affinity which wasn't :p

I think all you can do is try them but I would worry that assuming she isn't bald there it will clog the hair and poss not help as they are both more designed for skin on skin (chamois shorts are popular for cyclists ;))
 
But don't cyclists get saddle sores on their bums which is from the material chafing against their skin so use something like this and it stops it? Worth a try for £10!!

Oh yeah. Think of how hirsute some people are in places that need bodyglide.
Most have a silicon base, so you could also use coat shine, gun oil, hair serum etc.

Silicon will not degrade rubber (neoprene girths) but will degrade silicon.
Natural oils will degrade rubber. Both will stain leather darker.
Just to stay aware of tack composition.

Cyclists don't use chamois leather shorts anymore. The modern "chamois" is more like massive textile incontinence pads in the shorts. I'm not sure which is worse!
