I have a cobra which is ok but I find it a bit long in the back so im thinking of selling it and getting either a Rodney Powell MTM or an airowear with the shoulders. These are my choice as I can have my XC colours.

Opinions please from everyone who owns one! Sorry I know its boring

I have a rodney powell and an airowear zippa. I prefer the rodney powell as it is lighter to wear. It really moulds to your shape after wearing a couple of times and like you say, you can have in your own colours.

Airowear with the shoulders !!
I have two of them (one without shoulders)
and I love them expsecially (sp) as I wear mine loads when riding Sol atm and I find it really comfy and moulds to you shape really well

But I want to know what I'm missing out on now if the RP is even better !!

have the rodney powell one with shoulder guards and have to admit to being old school and "oh my god you want me to wear that

" as was so used to doing everything without one! Had to buy one as doing HT's etc, and have to admit that despite feeling like wearing a full suit of armour the first time I put it on

I don't even notice I'm wearing it now and only really remember when I get off that I'm actually wearing it

Have worn it for a couple of hours at a time too when we go round Somerford Park Farm ride as well

I am short and love my Rodney powell (with shoulder pads) It was recomended as the back can come in different lengths I believe? I had mine fitted so they did all the measurements

Ive had a Rodney Powell one for years and I love it, wear shoulder pads too. I think body protectors have become more of a fashion thing but at the end of the day you have to comfortable and find something that fits your body shape... i would advise on shoulder pads, i'd never worn them until I started eventing but you don't notice them once you're riding.
But yea my RP is lovely, hardly know Im wearing it even though they appear quite bulky. definitely reccomend them

Im going to go to local saddlery to have a look at RP. I really need one to be shorter in the back than standard size. Thanks all looks like RP is the winner!!

Love my Airowear Zippa Plus - practically never ride without it (especially in the cold!!) and feel naked if I do. But try both and see what fits best, like everything else, it's what suits you that counts. I know you can get Airowears in different back lengths, no idea about the RPs.

I have the Racesafe RS2000. They come in short back lengths & with shoulder pads & in different colours too I think. I really like mine - very comfortable.

I have the Jack Ellis tabard stylee one. ITs nice and short so doesn't catch when riding BUT I fell off (flew off!!!) my youngster in a "superman" type position on to ruts in the field from tractors a few summers ago with my BP on. I was pretty bad and went to A & E the next day. The doctor said as I fell onto my side the BP pushed the underwiring of my bra into meand cracked 2 ribs. I don't know if I'd have suffered worse injuries without it but I only wear it for X-C now. Not sure it really helped me that day!
