Body protector recommendations please

Hi everyone thanks so much for all replies and interesting debate on air jackets - maybe next year I will get one of those too!

So tried on lots of BPs, two they had in stock fit me - the outlyne and the rs 2010, but I felt miles more comfortable in the racesafe so went for that one.

I think the advice of 'try a few on and see' is definitely the best advice and it was great to have someone who knows what they are doing fit it as I wouldn't necessarily know how tight etc to have it.

Size wise I'm 5'7", size 12, shorter body than legs and I got the adults xs short.

Fingers crossed it's going to be a completely wasted purchase and no falls for me please! Thanks again everyone really appreciate the comments :)

You wont regret it . You will forget you have it on .

Just thought I would mention that some shops are taking pre-orders for Dainese Balios 3 BP's, with the in store date of March 2017. I checked up with BETA and it apparently has just been re-accredited, it looks like they've shelved their replacement model that failed BETA accreditation earlier this year which is what caused the shortage of Balios 3's as they had stopped production and were geared up to produce the new one instead.

I've seen one not inflate in time - during a clinic, a friend came off almost in slow motion - horse was on it's knees, the jacket didn't go off until she was on the ground

I guess that there must be circumstances where the mechanics of the fall prevent the jacket from triggering in time, but I suspect that they are a very low proportion. I did hear that a lot of issues with air jackets where caused by people not wanting to pay out for the approved replacement cylinders and using ones designed for a different purpose, that didn't inflate at the same speed.

Low proportion but the time you need maximum protection ie Rotational falls. Seen plenty of times they have gone off when they shouldnt. The cylinder makes no difference to the inflation time at all as long as it has the same charge . The speed is down to the trigger mechanism which is part of the jacket.
