Having a real problem with body protectors and skull caps for children. The body protectors fit .. the skull caps fit and all is ok when sitting on saddle but as soon as you are in jumping position the body protector is bang up against skull cap . The body protectors seem quite chunky ( as they need to be for protection, I understand that ) and of course skullcaps are quite padded and come quite low at the back of the head . The children are doing alot of X-country now and the hats that suit/fit are Champion skulls and either Air-o-Wear or Rodney Powell body protectors . We've tried others but they dont fit and they children find them uncomfortable( and thats not me being soft with them !) . Any suggestions ? I wondered about Racesafe , they seem thinner ?

You just have to grin and bear it I'm afraid.. Pull them down as far as they can go before getting on, and make sure they're nice and snug fitting.. I have a RaceSafe but they don't have adjustable shoulders so they too can ride up. Rodney Powell are the best in that respect, tighten the shoulders up as much as possible and it minimises it xx

Thanks , I was wondering if the children maybe are shrugging their shoulders , not realising it tho , and of course a crotch strap may help ( which I think the Racesafe have ?! )

the strap may help but it is incredibly uncomfortable and for boys i should think its rather painful when you fall of with one of those on as the bp goes up pulling the strap up your bottom :o

Mmmmm.... I suppose so .... Well Id have to be careful or the children will be onto NSPCC !!! They did object to my suggestion of a staple-gun or Duct-tape !!!! LOL
