after 8 years but that was only because it was not current spec otherwise I would not have. Never really thought about it. Always replace ahat after a fall
 
Same here, jsut bought nrew one for current spec. Certain makes you can replace sections when you fall off, but it is like a hat and if you fall you ought to replace it. Not that I have.
 
Apparently they are like hats and so the foam can 'degenerate' over time from general wear and tear... so you are SUPPOSED to change them every 3 years. Not sure about this though, i dont change mine but then again i hardly wear mine!
 
I replaced mine after falling off 2 weeks ago, I wasn't sure whether to or not, but peeps on here and the company (well I guess they would) said replace. Judging by the huge bruise I sustained and I am still sore 2 weeks later I am just thankful I was wearing one. I always have mine on, lets face it I was on a quiet hack just walking along, but by the time I fell off George was galloping - ouch!
 
I replaced mine after four years - if u speak to the manufacturer they should be able to give u a 'use by date' as the foam stuff disintegrates after a few years and it becomes less effective.
 
Ive only had 3 BP's in my lifetime so far, the first one I grew out of, the second one I wore for a year but didnt like as it banged the back of the saddle and then I got my current RS2000 last year and love it. Dont plan to replace it until its giving up the will to live!
