Hey everyone,

Sorry if this post has already been done!

Im just wondering if anyone can reccomend a good body protector? I don't want to spend massive amount, but if its worth it then I don't mind at all. (safety first) :D

I am planning on doing more jumping, and I think wearing a body protector will probably help a little bit with my confidence just knowing that its there :D haha.

Thank you in advance xx

I love my Racesafe one! It feels a bit odd when you first put it on, but pretty soon you forget you're wearing it. It's a sort of armadillo/turtle design (in lots of different segments) so it's very flexible and light, but at the same time it's a level 3 high protection, so fine for XC, hacking etc. Also, instead of having the velcro bits to adjust, it's a sort of lacing. I prefer this because it's less noisy when adjusting, and I feel like I can get a better fit! Huge thumbs up from me! :) xx

I have a Racesafe, and I love it :) Spent years wearing a Rodney Powell and hating it, but putting up with it because I thought all BPs were like that. Now I know differently - you hardly even know you have the Racesafe on, as it is designed to fit the contours of your body and is much lighter and more flexible. Mine was £165 custom made, but if you're lucky enough to fit off-the-peg I have seen some really good deals around, some as low as £90 :)

another vote for the airowear from me. I feel protected (def a confidence boost for me) but not restricted. I'd try and go somewhere where you can try a few brands on and choose one from there. I had expected to love the racesafe but it didn't feel so good on.

I was BP shopping at Badminton :)

Tried on the Racesafe (I would have to pay for made to measure as off the peg didn't fit me as well as it could have), Airowear (okay) and Rodney Powell (best of these three).

However I then tried on the KanTeq - it felt so light and comfortable and fab - it was quite a bit extra but worth it :)

The only body protector I would recommend as wearing it gives me confidence, its comfy and you dont notice you have it on is the Kan body protector its fantastic and I cannot fault it Jeannett Breakwell wears one to and i know she has a higth opinion of it also. they do retail around £210 but you cannot put a price on your back.

I reckon it depends on your bodyshape :) I tried the racesafe but it was to long in the back so I would of had to get made to measure... I was also inbetween sizes. Tried Rodney Powell again did not fit!! Aerowear did fit though and its really comfy :) I needed the short backed one. I would really advise going to a decent tackshop and getting one fitted. I went to Surry Equestrian and could not fault them- they made me try on laods and they have a saddle to sit on to check it is not going to catch on the back of the saddle.
