I have started doing some low level jumping (very low) and need a new body protector as mine is over ten years old and not to standard. I only need it occasionally so I dont want to spend a fortune.

So does anyone have any recommendations??

There are 3 levels of protection offered by back protectors. I would reccomend that you go for the one with the highest level of protection (Purple badge). Your tack shop will be able to help you.

Racesafe (cant remember exactly which model it is will go and find out), it is the best body pro ever! It is so comfortable, you can forget that you are even wearing it and it doent restrict at all. It is quite expensive but is worth every penny!

If not, the Cobra was in the Robinsons sale for £45, but has probs sold out by now!

I know you say you don't want to spend much and will only wear it occasionally but if you spend the £100 odd on a RaceSafe 2000 BP you will wear it everytime you ride as it's so comfortable. It's the purple label so the highest protection. Well worth the money.

i have a Rodney Powell one its excellent i had it made in my own cross country colours and have additional shoulder pads! Its really comfy and fits me alot better than others i tried. Which ever one you do decide to go for please make sure you go to a autherised retailer to get it fitted!! Best of Luck on your quest!!

I had a rodney powell but didint like it personally found it too stiff.

Just recently bought a racesafe RS2000 the confiest body protector I have ever worn allthough not cheap. You can get them from around £90 from a shop online called Nagswag, they are brilliant email them about sizing they were very helpful for me

(Can't wait for my Racesafe 2000 to arrive!!). If you dont want to fork out for a RS2000 and you dont really care what it looks like etc. then you can always buy cheaper ones (still purple labeled ones). I think Charles Owen do one which is cheap?

I allways wear mine, think it is charles own, is bulky and stiff but as i wear it lots it is moulded to me!!

I think it depends on your frame with body protectors i am quite small & slim and i found the Rodney Powell fits like a glove..
p.s Not saying that anyone that doesn't have a RPowell is fat by the way

I am very slim and it fits me perfectly. As it is rigid, you either fit it, or you do not. You mould to its shape rather than it to you!
