Does anyone have one of the new slimline body protectors? What are they like?
I have a racesafe that i will continue to use for XC but would like something a bit more subtle for SJ.
Which ones do people reccomend?
 
My teenage daughter has one for SJ. Proper Racesafe Provent for XC, but previously she didn't wear one at all for SJ, and is happy to wear this one under her show jacket. It is the Racesafe Motion and I suppose isn't really a body protector in the traditional sense of the word and doesn't meet safety standards etc. as it's just a foam pad down her back, but as she previously didn't wear one, it can't be worse than nothing! I would say for a bit of padding across the back, it can't do any harm, but I wouldn't buy it with any expectation that it would make a big difference in a real impact situation, and no protection at all at the front or on shoulders etc. I would not use one in any situation where I would normally wear a body protector, more might add it in a situation where we might previously not have bothered at all.
 
Don't have anything to add but following for recommendations.....after 3 years of no tumbles I've come off twice in the past month! Once off a horse we went to view (asked for canter and miscommunication/greeness led to an unexpected dismount) and then last week a friends horse spooked at electric tape out on hack, span, took 300 yards to pull up and when he did, did abruptly! Both times really hurt and I have a huge hematoma on my ar$e! and my SI joints are playing up.
