Body-worn cameras for hacking?

If you definitely want body-mounted instead of hat-mounted, Techalogic have just brought a reasonably-priced body cam. I think the HC-1 model. It was thoroughly reviewed recently in the Pass Wide and Slow Facebook group

If you don't mind hat-mounted, though, the Techalogic DC-1 model is by far the best (if wanted for road riding) as it captures both front and back views, unlike a single body cam.

If you wear an air jacket whilst out hacking then you need a hat mounted one. To be quite honest I found that the bullet type of hatcam were the best. I even did a round of SJ at a competition centre with it but alas had set it wrong on my hat so it only filmed the right wing of every jump - back then in 2014/2015 they only let you do a clear round, you weren't actually allowed to compete in a helmet one as it was considered dangerous in case you fell off which was fair enough.

My partner bought my one last Christmas, it was a body mounted one but it could also be converted to a hat but I never got the chance to try it out with the issues with Lari.

Its sat in the wardrobe somewhere!

I don't really understand why it's considered dangerous, because mine isn't directly attached to my hat, it's clipped to a stretchy hat band, so any force on the camera and it slides or flings straight off.

I'd imagine my hat peak would have a lot more potential to do damage that my hat cam.

Just a few quick searches. Due to the protrusion on the helmet which can twist the neck in the event of a fall. Mine was the same as yours Antipuck but I was only allowed to do clear round at the one competition centre and was told an outright no at the other two.

Not sure about affiliated as I only affiliated during 2000 -2005 and didn't bother with it then.

i would never wear one actually mounted to the hat (i.e screwed on) as this caused/contributed to Michael Schumachers head injury.

I have the Chilli Tech bullet cam (mounted via velcro on an elastic hat band at the side of my hat, pointing backwards.

Plus a Cambox IS2/v4 which velcros to the underside of the peak of your hat (it's tiny like a mini pair of sunglasses shape).

Both take excellent footage but the sound and pictures are far superior on the Cambox, plus you can view the footage instantly on your phone via their app.

Yes, obviously I have the ability to Google things myself - what I meant was I don't really see how a strap-mounted cam actually causes an issue in reality, because it would fly off with even light impact. I think the risk is perhaps overstated.

Well thank you for that. Perhaps strap based cameras are safer, but in this day and age of litigation competition centres can't be too careful and its easier to put a complete blanket ban on any sort of hat cam.

Do you remember how they thought that Michael Schumacers brain injuries were caused due to the camera on his helmet? Although that was a different type to ours.

I don’t know about you but I sometimes struggle to get the camera on as the band secures it that much ? I have taken lots of canter videos and its solid, and I have used it on my cycle bike too and never moved even with all my head wobbling lol.
