Boett - have you put yours on yet?

Just questions - as title says... this is the first time I have used one (only got the sweet itch suffering horse in November - he hasn't had a Boett before)... I have it all ready and waiting - is now the time?

My YO has had hers on her sweet itch mare for about a month now - only on and off though, she doesn't need it when there aren't any midges obviously. But there are thousands of midges about today (have been stood in-hand grazing so I should know!) in our fields. I would say now is the time to stick it on, before it's too late and your horse gets bitten.

If it stays warm mine's going to have to go on, however don't like to when he is in as if he rubs he will destroy it.

I'm thinking it will have to go on as well... noticed some flies yesterday... so midges must be around soon... if not already, but not seen any myself yet.

Not sure if it rubs as he not worn it for more than 5 mins so far!

If my pony wasnt on the vaccine trial his boett would have been put on at the beginning of feb.

Yes - as the weather is so warm the flies are making an appearence. Rug went on this Saturday after I caught him having a scratch on a feeble willow tree twig that is over hanging the fence, its amazing how quickly they can rub their mane out!

Mine was all washed yesterday and drying today, so poor horse has had to remain in a warm full neck rug today as can not risk her itching. She started rubbing yesterday. My probs is I ride at the worse time of day for the midges really but I do not like to ride in the Boett and she is in it 24/7 until Nov

If she has started rubbing she has already been bitten. Fingers crossed you dont get a bigger reaction before the rug goes back on.

Midges were in abundance here today - was chatting with a girl on the yard who is also taking part in the SI trial and we were amazed that Ollie wasn't bothered at all

Ive had my boys first Boett on for about 2 weeks now. It has rubbed the top of his front legs though

But managed to ride him in it today which I was worried about.

not yet wont til the end of april i would have thought, if we wer to put it on now he wouldnt come in with it all on.

I would if I had one- am looking for a second hand 4ft3 for my shettie, otherwise I will have to shut her in her stable again with netting over door and window-poor love

thanks everyone. Mine hasn't started rubbing or itching at all - but its gone on today.

Guess it depends on where you live and on your horse too.. Never had one with sweet itch before - am hoping he won't suffer with it with the rug on.
