My mare already has a thoroughpin, and tonight I noticed another swelling on her other hock. However it is not like the thoroughpin it is in a slightly different place (but still on the outside side of her hock) if that makes sense?
Am I right to think it could be a bog spavin?
It also doesn't feel like her thoroughpin- it isn't as squishy and the shape of the swelling is longer and narrower.
Can anyone give me some info about bog spavins, i.e. treatment, future, as the last thing she needs is more time off
I've also noticed both of her hind fetlocks are quite swollen, as both are swollen i'm thinking perhaps windgalls?? But she has been having trouble bringing her hinds underneath her lately so am hoping its nothing to do with this!!
Thanks in advance.

Bog spavin swelling is usually present on the inside of the hock lower down and on the outside slightly higher (but lower than where a throughpin would be). If it is a bog spavin you should have it looked at by a vet. They are caused by synovial fluid distending the joint capsule and are a symptom of another problem in the hock. This could be a slight sprain or it could be an arthritic condition like OCD.
Treatment is rest, bute and cold therapy, and if none of this works, x-rays to see whether the actual upper hock joint is involved.

She's got to go to the vets early next week so have booked her in to be looked at then! Thanks for your reply.
