Help me not look like a total noob please.
I've booked to take supercob on Sunday - only for the 60cm - I think someone(s) has been before and I am totally anxious about the format.
Obviously, dressage - straightforward - try to do the things in the places in accordance with the test.
Then showjumping - jump jumps in right order, don't fall off
Then "xc" (workers course) again, jump jumps in correct order, don't fall off, and go a bit quicker.

So when I put it like that it all seems quite obvious but...

Some places seem to run it where you go direct and in same arena from SJ to XC or is there a change of arenas and possibly a break in between the 2? Are the arenas side by side? That could get interesting as supercob does have a bit of a nap in him at times.
Do I wear my jacket etc for dressage (as I would for a standard one day) or is it all base layer type stuff? Do I change for the SJ or just the XC? Do I need a body protector? Will my hat be checked? What about numbers - do I need a bib? I have a dressage square with a Velcro number set but that won't work for my jump saddle.

Any sort of inside info to give me any idea of what to expect will vastly reduce my anxiety. Thank you

^Yep thats the jist:p

Ok arena layout last time was the indoor arenas are used for the SJ (main arena) and DR (smaller arena), and then the XC out on the big outdoor. Getting to and from the SJ and DR arenas/ warm-ups will be your main points for potential naps I'd have thought, though the actual arenas he shouldn't be able to see any other horses.

Edited to add, the XC also was fairly spooky and included working hunter fences too last time. Skylla didn't find it spooky but others did!

Last time I wore my normal dressage attire for the DR and SJ, and then changed to XC base layer, body proctor + none peaked hat for the XC. Hat's weren't checked, they provided numbers and string last time, though if I'm more prepared this time I might print out my number and put it in my bib I saw people wearing both, not sure I saw anyone wearing them on the saddlepad like they do in DR.

Last time I got my dressage time and then allocated time periods for each class to do the SJ and XC, so no set times for jumping more 'between 11 and 12 class 4 can SJ' type thing. It did make it a little tight between my DR and SJ, but enough time to go back to the box and change saddles.

I'm there again for the 80, super good luck!

Oh thank you so much. That's massively helpful :D. Good luck and have a fab time if we don't see you.
We are totally wimping out with the 60 but I'd rather wish I'd done the bigger course than get E'd at the first fence because I freeze and give up riding. If it's a nice friendly sort of course we will work our way up to 80s

That's great, thanks so much.
You're looking fab there, I've got my eye on doing a BE but this will literally be the 10th time we've jumped at all and the first ever comp involving jumping so I'm scaling back for now. Supercob has scope to burn but sadly my jump seat has a long way to go (our 10th time jumping is really about my 10th time jumping in around 6 or 8 years) so I'll stick with small steps for now

No problem, I've found it harder to get my brave pants back too after a few years break from any real jumping! Thankfully I've found just forcing myself to do it is working wonders, all that 'fake it till you make it', it's taken us nearly a year to get to this point and Skylla is super brave!

YeY! You must be local to me if you’re going to Bold Heath.

I haven’t jumped in years so nothing useful to add but wanted to say hello!
Hi, Manchester I think Bold is about an hour away so fairly local :D
HP, I'm working on the same sort of principle - there is a lot of ugly jumping as supercob has a slightly malicious sense of humour and specialises in jump halt transitions which result in me dropping out the front door! He's pretty brave and has bags of scope though so as long as he keeps going we will be fine

Hope you had a super time today, we really enjoyed it, we are going back in a fortnight to try the 70s!
For the bigger classes, is it just the solids or do you do the workers course and add the solids on after?
