Bolshy gelding

My boy is still very riggy and bolshy 3 months on from being cut. He served a mare by accident about a month a go and I hav,nt been able to do a thing with him since.
He has been on magic calmer and Rigcalm for about 2 weeks but it has'nt seemed to have had much affect.
Just tried to walk him out in hand today and he was a nightmare, my hands are red raw because I fotgot my gloves.
Help please !! I am almost giving up.

Try leading him in a be nice halter, my gelding used to be hugely bolshy and is an absolute lamb now. Speak to you vet who will be able to give you some advise regarding calmers and supplements that might help. Doing some groundwork with him might also help get him to respect your space more and focus him.

Turn him out with an equally bolshy mare and let him learn his lesson. Worked with one of mine. The mare had him banished to the furthest corner of the field within minutes and he was only allowed to move when he showed some manners. Make sure mare is not in season though.

Have you tried wrapping the rope over his nose and threading it back through your side of the headcollar when leading him ? Or do you lead in a bridle ?
My cob used to be very bargey and strong, he would turn his head and neck away from me and just tank off. Now I still put it over his nose in new situations just in case but he is much, much better.
