Just looking for feedback if anyone has used/does use these please. Love the shape of the mouthpiece but the lock mechanism that prevents full nutcracker action looks like it could nip the tongue quite harshly?!? Tried one on my thumb in the tack shop and it hurt which put me off a tad ? but surely they wouldn’t produce something that could do that to the horses tongue????

I don't have experience of it, but I would have thought that if a bit hurts your hand/thumb then it would have the ability to hurt the horse, so I wouldn't use it. I realise it sits differently in the horse's mouth than on your hand, but there would still be the risk that it could move in the horse's mouth and hurt the horse as it hurt you. Unfortunately I don't think horse comfort is always the main consideration when designing some bits anyway (although in this case it's possible that it's a manufacturing error in the one you handled).

Yes I use one, I’ve got a tricky to bit horse - really he prefers bitless but at times when I need a bit this is the one that seems to be most acceptable out of the who knows how many we’ve tried over the last 10 years.

Not had any pinching issues as far as I’m aware and he’s ultra sensitive so I’m pretty sure he’d let me know extremely quickly if it did! Certainly prefers it to the neue schule verbinded that had been the previously best found option.

I use a Bombers Ultra Comfy Lock Up on my super sensitive mare, this is the only bit out of many I've tried that she accepts. She is still slightly fussy but is improving as she gets stronger, straighter and in front of the leg. She inherited it off my previous horse, when I changed him into this bit it inspired my chiro/vet to do a bit fitting course as it improved his way of going massively. Not saying it will work for all but my experience has been positive.

Thanks for the feedback ?? Think I’ll get one to try from the bit bank then if I’m unsure it can go back. Trying to find an alternative bit now BD have disallowed the use of keepers on fulmers which prevent the nutcracker action ?‍♀️ not sure what the reasoning is behind it, but without the keepers the bit doesn’t sit right in his mouth which is a shame as he goes beautifully in it - hey ho ?
