They are a bit expensive for the type of horses they are selling - £3800 for something described as a "ploddy hack"? I can get something with decent breeding and/or winnings round here for that.

I've also heard a number of horror stories about them, and I would be very disinclined to buy from them just on that basis.

Your horse has been bomb-proofed against the following:

Low Level Flying, both Planes and Helicopters. Including the Red Arrow Display Team.
Tanks, Missiles, a 50 Tonne Forklift a 5 Tonne Forklift.
Fireworks and Pyrotechnics. Fire Alarm. Fire Engines.
Containers, Tankers, Artic Lorries, Flat Bed Trailer, Horse Trailer, Horse Lorry,
Low Loader, Crates and Pallets, A Coach, A Bus, Various Large and small vehicles.
Various Farming Equipment, Other Horses and Ponies, Horse Cart, Pony Trap.
Quad Bikes, Golf Carts, Large Dogs, Small Dogs, Water, Large Buildings, Hangers, Offices.
Plastic Bags.
A crisp packet!

The above is a quote from their website. Now, I train my horses to car-proof, tractor-proof, clipper-proof them etc....but I am clearly failing in my training. Does anyone know where I can get hold of the Red Arrows and/or a tank?

Shildashair, you are just Not Trying Hard Enough. Phone up the Red Arrows and ask to book them ! While you are at it, see if they know anyone who can lend you a tank. I want to know if these are static or moving tanks, though as thats an importnant distinction.

In all seriousness, i used to ride a pony in Dorset who was completely bombproof to all sorts of artillery, as he lived on Salisbury Plain. He'd seen troop transporters, tanks, great big gun things (I don't even know their names) nd he was completely oblivious to them. Even the bangs on live firing days didn't bother him over much. He was terrified of pigs and donkeys though....silly pony.

Something tells me that everyone would stop me getting my hands on a tank...even my OH wouldn't be happy....
Unless of course, it's a water tank

I will try harder, I will kidnap the Red Arrows and force them to feed my youngsters carrots.

I would love to have a tank, I really would. I have a neighbour who has a mild obsession with always having the biggest, shiniest car in the road. He is currently fixated on these big shiny pseudo-pick-up truck things and keeps buying bigger and bigger ones (I expect he will get one of those Bigfoot trucks soon). A tank parked opposite would really upset him

.

Tell you what, I'll go and buy a tank and bring it round to your place to scare...i mean, bombproof your horses.

It's a deal. We could go out cruising on Saturday night in it...no one would stop us! We could play leapfrog with sports cars! I can't wait...

The Red Arrows fly over us once a year for the Cosford air show

can't say we get many tanks, although my dad is in the army so it could be arranged.... would take one round the bomb-proof.co.uk stables and see if they genuinely are tank proof
tongue.gif

oh dear - not what I was hoping for!

there is a horse on there I like the look of as well.

JayCeeLen, can you tell me why you say that in a PM if you don't mind? - I am really curious now.

Just clicked on one of the horses at random and read that its privately owned.

Be aware that a dealer selling a horse on for someone else is NOT subject to the normal trading standards arrangements and you will not necessarily have any come back at all if you buy a horse through this arrangement.

Very good advice spaniel. That is what happened to me and I cannot sue the dealer even though I was not aware that it was a so called "private" sale until the horse was delivered and it was written on the receipt. I would like more people to be aware of this con trick. The horse which I bought as suitable for a novice is on his second lot of re-schooling now and is still unsafe!

they will probably have said all that aerplane stuff, as they are fairly near to where red arrows are based, as well as a couple of other bases

I bet when they say red arrows they probably mean these things on paper

<---- LOL!

All sounds too good to be true for me so on that basis I would dismiss.

Is there really such a thing as a bombproof horse, at the end of the day its a living animal with a brain of its own. Mae is quiet, as is angel but they can still have their stroppy days!

Maybe not, but there are days when if I had a grenade, I'd have lobbed it at my three

Same here, would give anything for a bit of turbo lol, however Mae has now got herself the nickname of the fat little racehorse lol.

She would be one of the quietest i have but last night she gave me a run for my money, actually had to circle her as she was getting too excited!!!

My yard is between two RAF bases with fast jets (hubby is a fast jet pilot), multi engine and helicopters going over every day. I couldn't say mine was 'red arrow' proof but he is definately 'aircraft proof' ha ha ha. Where is this yard?? The Red Arrows are based in Lincolnshire at RAF Scampton.

What a crock of *****!!
