My friends 17 year old horse has developed a lump on his back over his spine. It is clearly bothering him and she thinks it was responsible for him bucking her off a couple of weeks ago while she was jumping him as he is normally an angel and it was completely out of character. The vet has scanned it and thought that the lump may have been caused by a chip of bone. He has now got to go to Newmarket for a bone density scan and possible surgery but they seem to be suggesting that it may be that he won't ever be able to jump him again. My friend adores jumping and so is now faced with a really difficult situation! Just wondered if anyone had any ideas about worst case scenario etc?? The vets don't seem to be giving much away so would really appreciate anyone who wants to share similar experiences? We are hoping they can get him back to normal but am wondering how likely this will be?
