My horse went lame at the end of October and was diagnosed with laminitis and so was put on bute, boxed and starved for a week with a bit of walking around the yard. A week later found her lying in her stable with her front leg in the air. Anyway to cut a long story short, after four weeks of nerve blocks x-rays and scans with no diagnosis she was sent to Newmarket and came back her normal self with confirmation (after an MRI and ditigal x-rays) that she has a bone cyst growing in a hairline fracture under her fetlock joint which was apparently caused by a trumatic incident. Have been told to box rest her and have to take her back to Newmarket next month for another x-ray to assess the bone cyst. Has anyone ever heard of this condition or have any advice?

My mare had bone cysts in one of her front feet, she probably had a tiny fracture in her foot which then went on to become a cyst, she had the joint medicated and went on to be a happy horse for years after, I fed her Cortaflex too which appeared to help. Feel free to PM me if you want anymore info.
