H has apparently got an infection from the one started by his grazes and cuts that seems to have moved to the sesamoid bone, well vet thinks this because the bone looks uneven where theres fluid around the tendons top down view and a greyish tinge/uneveness/speckling (but i couldnt see the specking) to the edge of the bone?

His tendons and bones are all fine otherwise, hes on stronger anitibiotics and box rest

But

they want him back in in two weeks for further x rays

He was a nightmare to load, his fleece was soaking wet with sweat, and he kicked and tried to get out.
then he was sedated a total of 3 times getting him back on one leg at a time with 5 people!

I really dont want to go through that again well more importantly I dont want him to , any experience of infection like this?

Im really worried about having to take him again, he really doesnt travel well, ok he could be sedated to go in, but even then it took so many of us, theres only 2 of us available at the yard

Bone infections are seriously bad news hun. Have you asked your vets why they want to x-ray him further? It's almost certainly to see whether the antibx are doing the job or if the infection is spreading. Some vets have portable x-ray machines but often they don't give as accurate a picture. If he were mine, I'd say don't chance NOT having it done but others may have different views.

OH reminded me the vet used the words slight infection on 3 occassions, was so tired yesterday it hadnt all quite stuck in my head.

I would assume like you that its to see progress however hes much better today, the baytril seems to be doing its job quickly, We will have to see in two weeks where we are.

Ask your vet what the xray will change in your horse's treatment. They often love to see the progress of their work, understandably. But when asked "what will you change depending on what you will see?" the answer is "nothing".

If the xray is for the horse, have it done by a vet who has mobile equipment if possible, it's common in Cheshire so you ought to be able to find a vet with it in the Midlands. If it's for the vet, don't have it done at all.

thanks, His leg is much better, hes sound now just a little stiff, I am struggling keeping him on box rest, and obviously at the minute gruond is too hard.

Ive asked for some sedalin so I can walk him out in hand but not had a response yet. Still a little swelling but compared to before its not much.

As his scars are almost all healed, why would it stop him for being allowed turnout? I know before it swelled when he went out but now after 6 weeks its like have a fire work on the end of a rope. At 17.2 its not funny Im only 5'4 lol
