My 9 yr old Tb mare has been diagnosed with bone spavin in her near hind hock today. She is going on bute for 9 days and then treatment with Tildren will begin. Anyone any experiences good or bad? Thanks.
Hi. About to do the same with my horse. Have had a rubbish 12 months of random lameness and the only thing they can find is minor changes on one hock. They injected with steroids and haven't noticed a difference so tildren starting on tuesday. 2 bute a day makes a reasonable difference to my horse but does not right him completely. Have you tried steroids? I'm confused as someone said try hydrolic acid too?
Yep,twice - load o rubbish, I'm afraid. Lasted 2 months tops, with my girl. I'm having her hocks fused with ethyl alcohol on Monday - fed up of buggering about with bute too!! Hope to God this works. Terrified.
Good luck with the tildren. My Mum's horse is recovering from bone spavin operation (we went straight for the op as horse is young and vet said that's what he would go for). I hope it works out for your horse.
Sorry to report that Tildren had no lasting effect on a mare of mine either. I am sure that there could be some success stories but it is expensive and my own experience was disappointing. I manage her with Danilon, when she needs it, other joint supplements and keeping her as mobile as possible. Six years down the line she's doing well enough and seldom needs Danilon. I hope the treatment does work for your horse.
