My boy has been very slightly lame since February. He was on loan and had a paddy on the walker when he was left on it alone with it switched off. I don't know if he fell as there was no one watching him but it's quite likely as he would have had a huge tantrum.

we originally thought it was his back as he is showing signs of discomfort behind his saddle. Vet prescribed torn ligament and easy work, long reining etc for 6 weeks.

Back woman then came out and said he is too sore to treat, vet said it could be a fracture, cue 6 weeks box rest with no improvement. He was referred to another vet who thought he had pulled something in his back and gave him shockwave.

That didn't work so they have bone scanned him which has shown some red spots in his right hock. They have x rayed him today and said there is not much to see and he is not lame enough to nerve block?????? (no red areas in his back)

Does anyone have any ideas of what it could be?? I can't speak to the vet she is now in surgery

It sounds exactly what has happened to my boy but the other way round! He slipped in the field in the snow and had a really sore back so we gave him rest etc. Then went in for lameness work up and has spavin so hocks injected. Still sore back so now having all back stuff done. McTimoney, shockwave, cartrophen etc.

A few people on here have suggested hind suspensories as the problem.

Fingers crossed you get your horse on the road to recovery - Feb was when Happy went wrong and its been a bloody long time so I totally and utterly sympathise with you!!
