Had lameness workup on my mare with xrays and it has shown up an abnormality in her offside hock, part of her small third tarsal bone is missing, it looks like she has had a chip fracture that has crumbled over time.
She had some swelling due to a kick on her inside hind (this mare is so accident prone) and has had some antibiotics and bute to get her sound on that leg and i am taking her back to the vets on Wednesday so they can nerve block the offside hock to make sure that it is her only problem.
They have sent the x-rays off to Leahurst and i expect that i will have some indication on whether there is anything they can do with her when i take her back Wednesday.
Does anyone have any experience of this, is there anything they can do, plastic bone???
