Bonfire night

We have never had to worry about bonfire night in the past as our old boxer Malic wasnt fazed by it at all. Im slightly worried it will not be the same for Alfie our 4 month old boxer.

What do you do to help make it a stress free time for your dogs/puppies?

Keep them in with the telly or radio on

My concern is that it is not just "Bonfire night" (November 5th) We already have fireworks being let off and one of my dogs becomes a quivering wreck.
If I know when there is an organised display I can keep her in with all the lights on and a radio or the TV on to drown the noise. Unfortunately, without any legislation I never know when the d@@@@d things are going to go off.

i'm REALLY not looking fwd to it... my border collies are absolutely terrified. i've tried cds with firework noises on but it doesn't have the same vibrations apparently.

One thing i found that worked is based on a T-Touch method where you wrap them in a bandage (elastic tail bandage works) We use a towel rug that has a strap round the front and round the belly and really seemed to work... if not for secuirity then as a distraction :-D

Don't forget that if you make a huge fuss of the pup/dog when they are behaving all neurotic and worried it may well reinforce this behaviour. I'm lucky that Barnes seems to just want to sit on my lap. It is a nightmare time of year though!

Just be reassuring if he gets a bit stressy.

That said don't make a big fuss about it because if you make an issue over it you'll make it worse.

you could try a dap diffuser.Make sure they have a safe quiete den that they can go to.DON`T make a fuss/ react and cuddle them when they are stressing it will only reinforce the behaviour.We are recommending the use of Zylkene along side the dap diffusers.
