Can I ask a really uneducated question, he looks gorgeous but looks a bit overbent (I have a giraffe for a horse so never get this shape), is it just because of his type?

I knew someone would say that ! haha
yes .. in some he is.
he naturally carries himself very long and low. he's schooled more to carry himelf in a outline, so when i pick up rein he's happy to go along say as he is warming up in the 12th photo, more low and vertical with his nose out. so when the judge gets on him, he carries himself, and doesnt have to be asked as such

however, when i ask him to do more lateral work , which meens picking up a contact and asking him to do something. he evades the contact which leads to him not performing the asked movement, say leg yeilding/shoulder in as he disagrees when i pick up a tighter rein which i need to do, to keep him going forward without sticking his head up in the air and ask for a certain movement. so we have been working him up into my hand from my leg, which consequently meens he is working overbent yes. but he is also beginning to work form a contact and when i ask him to do anything lateral he doesnt try to evade the contact as he is used to being worked with both a loose rein, and being ridden up into my hand and asked to do something

if that makes any sense
