Today my 3 were in high spirits and having a real good blow out. As I watched from the kitchen window I noticed a strange lump on my mares right hand side at the end of her rib cage only noticeable when she was puffing- when she stopped for a drink I popped out to look closer.
When she was puffing this strange bony lump stick out very near her flank - on the edge of where the hair makes the arch and belly joins leg ( hope that makes sense) I placed my hand on it and gently pressed to see if she had maybe broken a rib and was sensitive but she was quite happy.
She is Arab x Cob so I googled Arab skeleton but all I could find is they have one less rib not a wierd extra lump ? Any ideas what this is and if it needs further investigations ?
