Morning
How far ahead do you book your dentist? Or how far ahead does you your dentist make bookings? Thanks

Our YO sorts ours as a group booking but the next visit is typically confirmed by the Dentists PA within a few weeks of him completing a visit, so booked about 9 months in advance.

I have the dentist every 6 months and i make the booking at each visit, so 6 months in advance.
I think my one usually has a couple months waiting list, there arent many around in my area so alot of people use the vet

The booking is made at the time of the appointment as it varies from horse to horse, so he's out at least 2-3 times a year. Only one of them is once yearly.

This last time we just booked a month or so in advance and he could squeeze us in, but I do plan to be more organised this time. They are all back on yearly visits now and came last month... didn't book in the next one yet but will try and do that soon so it's done and our slot is guaranteed.

My previous dentist, who has now retired, would book the next appointment before he left. So 6 months in advance. Most dentists round here will not book you in now until around the next due date.

Thanks all. I used to book for about a year ahead following the last visit. Now I'm in limbo because that isn't possible. It would be reassuring to know when bookings will start being taken eg for next April. But no. In contrast with my own dentist who takes bookings for more than a year ahead.

I don't know how far ahead my dentist takes bookings but we contacted him earlier this week to arrange a visit to do 7 horses and he needed a couple of weeks notice.

I'll book ahead when he's here, except he's not good at having the following year's diary on him, so often have to book later by text message.

I finally got a vet EDT to answer and book an appointment to do a filling on one of mine - it was a nightmare just getting someone/anyone to answer my request for an appointment to sort out caries found and referred on by the EDT.

They text me about 6-8 weeks in advance of our appointment.

They then send a follow up nearer the time (like 2 or 3 days away) to confirm the appointment is still OK.

Book next appointment 6 months on from the current appointment. I get a reminder a few days before to check it’s going ahead. Local EDTs seem to be extremely busy and you need to book well in advance and some won’t take on new clients as full.
