Subject to vetting. I seem to have bought myself a just backed 6yr old mare.

It's been a few years since I had such a young horse so any recommendations for good books for the just sat on horse?

Thx

I'm very excited

Perfect Manners by Kelly Marks. Was a life saver with my 4yr old, but I was very novice - and he was a bit of a pickle!

The basic training of the young horse , Reiner Klimke and Ingrid Klimke .

The original book was my bible for years the above is the updated version .

Jennie Loriston-Clarke writes a lot of sense in my opinion.
Thanks
Very exciting, hope she passes the Vetting :)

You are obviously experienced so as long as you use a bit of common sense you will be fine :)

Thanks. Yeah I guess I'm just looking to refresh my memory

Oh wow, I hope she flies through the vetting. :D

I'm no help on the book front though. Sorry.

Thank you

Yes as you say it's a great book for novices. I did read it once a long time ago

Klimke - without doubt the best there is (well, was)! Those Germans, they know what they're doing....
Good luck with your new horse, 6 is a great age as they're developed enough to withstand training & at least you know she hasn't been overdone as a 3 or 4 yr old! :)

Agree! The Kilmke book is outstanding in every respect.

Yes, I'd go with the Germans too :-) My absolute go-to book has always been "Schooling Young Horses" by Werner Storll, takes you right through from the unbacked horse through the whole process up to flying changes.
