Horse Breeding by Peter Rossdale (founder of Rossdales vets) is a very good book. It can be a little heavy going in places but goes into the whole process from conception, through pregnancy, foaling and dealing with the new born foal, nutritional requirements etc and looks at all the various problems that can arise in very good detail. If you're looking at foaling at home I would definitely recommend it. I've also read Foal to Five Years, worth a look but it's not very in depth and covers much less info on the actual foaling process and things you need to be aware to look out for than the first book, but more info on how to look after a young horse. If you're going to be at the nitty gritty end I think you'll learn more from Peter Rossdale's book but obviously depends on your plans a bit.
Sorry guys, just reread and realised you're talking about Foal to Fullgrown, not Foal to Five Years! Haven't read that so please ignore my comments re its basicness. Would still recommend Peter Rossdale's book though.
