Books or articles on conformation??

Breed societies will have articles on conformation.

The best way to learn is to befriend a good judge and spend the summer watching or stewarding for the judge.

Exactly what I would recommend, I learnt a lot from being a steward at local RC shows.

I have just spent the day at Solihull watching the Foal of the Year Show. I have decided judging foals is difficult, I only managed to mirror the judges choice a few times and there were a lot of classes.

Personally I don't think there is a huge amount to be learnt about judging horses from books, far better to see the faults on real horses.

I found it a bit self-promoting and unhelpful. Get on the Internet and look for up to date articles and images. What is it in particular you are looking for?

Really?? I've had it for years and have never noticed anything like that. You could try ignoring the words and just look at the very informative pictures of course.

Glenda Spooner's "The Handbook of Showing" vintage, but a classic. It is a good read and the photographs of legendary stock are fascinating. Ardencaple, Gay Presto, Criban Victor, Liberty Light...oops, that is my constructive morning delayed now. : )

I wouldn't know where to start really, looking at foals. I've seen some absolutely awful specimens turn into beautiful adults, and some lovely foals grow up into very plain Janes. I think still pictures are a good place to start and once you have your eye in, try looking at them in the flesh and applying what you have learned.
