Booster how much was yours ?

Just took Rebel for his yearly booster , was shocked when it came to £41 , sure last time was more £25 , what do you pay for yours ?
 
quite annoyed now , wish i had asked why it was so much, what little stickers do you have in their record books ? i havenobivac DHPPI and nobivac lepto 2
 
its rediculous what ever animal you have its daylight robbery -they dont really encourage people to get jabs done at all when its that expensive!:eek:
 
It's really not daylight robbery. The vials are bought in for around £15 + 20% VAT for each dog, if you then think that the vet (yes each vet is different but most) does a full healthcheck of your dog and more than likely gives advice on some issue, that's equivilent to a consultation fee which is normally around the £30 mark inc vat. So £41.99 which is what our vaccines are, are pretty fair!

I pay about £150 per dog a year.

My dogs are on the Healthy Pet Club (which I pay monthly) , this gives me their boosters, including Kennel cough and flea treatment and worming plus a health check every six months.
 
Just had boosters done last week and paid £35.90. Also got a price to have ruby done and it'll be £174.00 if she puts on more weight which I fully expect she will fall into the next weight group and it'll be another £12.
 
I've just paid £99 for my Dobe puppy to have his 1st two vaccinations, microchip and annual boosters for life - & it's not one of these big chain vets but my local practice.
 
We get our vaccines in at 15 + vat. We use nobivac vaccines. Plus a full health check to ensure pet is ok for vaccine, we charge £34.50 so I think good value for money! Xx
 
Under the guidance of the RCVS the vet must give the pet a Health check before vaccinating a pet with a booster or primary vaccination and so u pay for there professional time as well as the vaccination. X

Annual boosters for life, wow that is good value. Or do you mean £99 a year - quite a few practices seem to be offering this sort of thing s paulineh mentions.
 
Hmm, if I ever have a client complain about vaccine costs I might direct them to this thread. We charge £20 for a booster (Nobivac), puppy course is £35 for basic course, £45 for vacc course and microchip.

As previously mentioned, you don't get charged a consult fee for vacc, therefore the price also includes your vets time to do a full clinical exam and likely some advice (I would say the majority of my vaccines will have at least one query/issue that they would like advice on).

No it's vaccines for life, so just a one off payment and actually it was £90 not £99!! I have literally just got back from the vets, he was checked over, teeth/mouth, eyes, heart, stomach was checked, weighed and then jabbed.

I also bought a wormer so I had to pay for that but that was all.

My other dog who isn't on the programme was £27 + vat, but when we were in Surrey it was always around the £40 mark, but salaries and property prices are higher in the South East so this has to be taken into consideration.

That is amazing. If you allow say £40 for first vaccs and microchip it means the next 10 years or so jabs will work out at around £5 a year, result! I wonder how they cover that, would be interesting to see if they are expensive for other things.
