I know theres quite afew eventers on this forum so wondering if anyone can put my mind to rest.
Last year i got out of kilter with my horses 6 monthly Vaccinations for FEI but when we phoned up BE we were told that the Vac had to be within 6 months of the competition and it didn't matter that we had got out of kilter, we then competed at 3 FEI comps without a problem.
This year again we have got out of kilter but knowing that it didnt matter we got it done in time for this season, anyway our vets have just phoned saying could we fax them his Vac record becuase they think we may be wrong, the vets son being an eventer i'm abit worried now. Have rules changed without me noticing? or are they the ones that are confused about the rule?
Sorry about the long post.

As far as I'm aware, it's still within 6 months- last year I did the same and had to get 2 within 2 months.
Must go check up on when she's due next actually....

For FEI they need to be jabbed every 6 months

As this is an FEI rule I think it will be the same in each discipline. When FEI decided on 6 monthly vacs it originally allowed some margin of error (or kilter as you say) This has been tightened up though & I 'think' you are now only allowed approx 1 or 2 weeks over the 6 monthly date. I am also told that this will soon be not allowed at all. Just get mine done within the 6 months now.

We just had ours done now, I am pretty sure within 6 months if fine- might be worth a check though.

From the british driving trials website

FEI Statement, received on 29 October 2007

All horses wishing to compete at an FEI competition must provide proof of an Equine Influenza vaccination recorded primary course, at least an annual booster schedule thereafter and the last booster given within a period of 6 months (+ 3 weeks) but not within 7 days prior to event arrival.

If a horse has failed to maintain the annual booster schedule they must start everything off again. If a horse has gone over the FEI 6 month booster period but has had the horse vaccinated as above they are fine.

So from reading the above I understand that you must keep up with the horses yearly booster then as long as the horse has had a flu jab within 6 months of the comp it is OK?

That is what the people at BE said when we spoke to them last year, i was just worried it had changed but i feel bit better now. Thanks
